General Information

COMMON NAMES: Mosaic Anemone-Crab, Tessellated Anemone-Crab

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE ? - Samoa - Cooks - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Carapace to 15mm wide. A very distinctively patterned crab which typically carries sea-anemones in its claws. Carapace polygonal patterns of pink, brown and yellow; legs have fine, dark purple bands. The carapace is smooth and has scattered tufts of long hairs.
