COMMON NAMES: Long-horned Beetle

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group; ?; Land, horticultural

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Pest

KEY FEATURES: Small oval beetle, to 9mmBL. HEAD reddish-brown with white hairs; eyes semilunar around base of antennae; antennae approx.BL. THORAX reddish-brown, pitted, with white hairs; orange hairs form conspicuous posterio-dorsolateral patches. WINGCOVERS reddish-brown, pitted, white hairs; orange hairs form conspicuous forward dorsolateral spot, and a diagonal bar of 3-5 spots.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Oopsis oblongipennis smaller, to 7mmBL (vs to 9mm); wingcovers without pale-hair spots (vs with orange spots). Oopsis albopicta is smaller, to 7mmBL (vs 9mm); wingcovers with white-hair stripes on hindsection (vs orange-hair spots form a diagonal bar).
