General Information

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Veri Kāka‘o (MG), Veritara (AT), Veri-tara Tai (MK MT), Veri-tara (AK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Disc ??mm, arms 4x disc d. (to ???mm). A dull red brittle-star with dark bands at 4-6 segment intervals on the arms. Disc smooth and scalloped between the arms, with a distinct edge. Arms lack plates on upper surface and have short lateral spines.Spines short.
