General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Indian Ocean - French Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Gp.4. Unattached, round to irregular-elongate, fungiid coral with a few secondary calices scattered over its surface, without a central furrow. Septa alternate thick and thin, in a radial pattern disrupted by the scattered secondary calices. The thick septa have conspicuous sharp and rounded teeth, while the underside costa have spinose spines. The corallum is brownish.
