General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Indonesia - Cooks - Tuamotu

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Carapace LxW, 20x35mm. Front almost straight, two broad lobes separated by shallow V-notch, excluding the suprorbital tooth. Chelipeds dorsally granulated; Propodus - upper inner edge crested, with about 6 teeth in all. Crest of basal anntennal sgment with 9-10 spinules.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Very similar to Thalamita quadrilobata but had more extending frontal lobes, separated by deep slit; anterolateral teeth longer and sharper; and (definitive) crest of basal antennal segment has 3 sharp spines instead of 9-10 spinules. Thalamita edwardsi is so similar to T. admete it may be a subspecies - see under that species. Thalamita integra is similar but has only 4 teeth on a smooth propodus.
