General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Kiribati - Cooks - Tuamotu - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: Carapace to 8mm wide - a small crab. The carapace has areas moderately defined, surface has granules and scattered coarse hairs. There are four low anterolateral lobes. The chelipeds are unequal and granulate on the outer surfaces. The fingers are hollow-tipped and very black. The walking legs are finely granulate and have conspicuous hairs along the upper margins. [mainly after Edmondson 1962]
