COMMON NAMES: Scissortail Sergeant, Stripetail Damsel, Convict Damselfish; German Scherenschwanz-Sergeant; French Sergent-major à Queue en Ciseaux

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Kōmutumutu (RR TS TW), Tapa‘uru (MG), Pakeke (AT MK MT), Maomao (AK), Kotimu Moana? (PK); Other Polynesian - Mamo (TAH); COMMENT: Mutumutu means "banded".

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Pitcairn; n. to s.Japan; s. to Lord Howe - Rapa

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; PLUS: S.Group. RR and AK. Outer reef-slope, 5-18 metres.; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: To 17cm SL.
