GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Pitcairn, Hawai‘i; n. to s.Japan; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Both Groups; reef passages and off the reef; trolling and reef rod.; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: To 170cm SL, depth ~2.5 in SL. Long rounded face; mouth extends behind eye. Silvery-grey to dark grey above with scattered tiny dark spots, silvery below; without spot on gill cover; fins uniformly grey. Breast without scales, except small patch anterior to Pelvics. GENUS FEATURES see Bluefin Trevally (Caranx melampygus).
