General Information

COMMON NAMES: Peppermint Angelfish; German Tiefsee-Zwergkaiser; French Poisson-ange Pastille de Menthe

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Cook Islands

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of Cooks (new species); Caught at 80-100m off RR by Charles Boyle and Richard Pyle. PLUS:; Marine, near-shore, lower outer reef-slope 50m+

KEY FEATURES: A wide-oval fish to 55mm S.L. Orange-red (including Dorsal and Ventral fins, and hind-half of Pectoral fin) with 5 white bands and white trailing edge to Dorsal and Ventral fins; white face, chin and tail.
