GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE islands, Madagascar - Pitcairn; n. to s.Japan; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; N.Group only.; Marine, near-shore, deepbottom, outer slope; 100+m

KEY FEATURES: To 30cmTL. Pale orange-red to orange-yellow to yellow, with red or yellow spots on head, anterodorsal body, and on dorsal fin base; tail-fin with pale blue edge and submarginal black line; dorsal fin and anal fins w/wo blue edge.
