Rarotonga: HOLOTYPE specimen, Avatiu 20m off tanker buoys at harbor entrance, BPBM 13823, with ID as Chromis acares Randall & Swerdloff, 1973. Aitutaki: field sighting ID Angus Thompson 1994 v.common.
