General Information

COMMON NAMES: Moustache Conger-Eel, Black-edged Conger, Ashen Conger-eel, Longfin African Conger; German Bart-Conger; French Congre à Moustache, Congre Oiro

TRADITIONAL NAMES: ‘Ā‘ā Teatea (RR), Pu‘i / Pu‘i Māmaru (MG), Koiro (AT), Kōiro / Kōiro < Māmaru (MK MT), Kōiro (AK), Pusi (TS TW), Tuna (PK); COMMENT: Mangaia: Pu‘i Māmaru refers to ones with black pectoral fins, usually seen with large females bloated with eggs. Mauke: over 40cm is Māmaru.

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE xxxx; s. to NZ

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Mod. common in S.Group. PLUS:; Marine, near-shore, Laggons and reef-flats

KEY FEATURES: To 130cm TL.(RM91) [ 100cm - GBR]
