TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; CHORDATA; GNATHOSTOMATA (Jawed Vertebrates); PISCES; OSTEICHTHYES; Perciformes; Percoidei; Percoidea; POMACANTHIDAE
GENERAL NOTE: Genicanthus is the only genus of angelfishes that are markedly sexually dimorphic, have a lunate tail and feed on plankton often venturing several meters away from the substrate.
