More Information

GENERAL NOTE: In the early 1900s hylid frogs were brought from Wellington to Rarotonga and Mangaia to help control mosquitoes. The frogs did not naturalize and are now gone. The northern part of New Zealand has two naturalised hylid-frog, introduced from Australia. Litoria raniformis is the only species in the Wellington area, and was probably the species introduced to the Cook Islands.
