TRADITIONAL NAMES: Taniwa (PK); Other Polynesian - Mao Arava (TAH); COMMENT: Name Moemoeao is the same as for Nurse Shark (Nebrius ferrugineus).

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Tuamotus; n. to Philippines; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Uncommon. PLUS: Confusible with N. concolor?; Marine, near-shore, lagoon
