GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Tuamotus, Hawai‘i; n. to s.Japan; s. to Norfolk - Rapa

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group; N.Group; Marine, near-shore, outer reef-slope, 10-20m

KEY FEATURES: To 11cm SL.(RM91) [ 14cm - GBR] The two colours are colour forms or morphs rather than phases.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Zebra-striped Hawkfish (Paracirrchites nisus) differs in having a broad black stripe above and below the white stripe.
