General Information

COMMON NAMES: Black-dotted Sandperch, Spotted Sandperch; German Vielpunkt-Sandbarsch; French Parapercis à Taches Noires

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Karaea (AK TW), Kalaea (TS), name? (PK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Mauritius - Societies; n. to s.Japan; s. to New Caledonia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; PLUS: Single specimen SW (Sims); Marine, near-shore; On rubble and sandy bottoms, on reef-flat and slope down to 50m.

KEY FEATURES: To 18cm SL. A cylindrical, lizard-like fish, with a long Dorsal fin, protruding dorsal eyes and thick lips. To 18cm.
