TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; CHORDATA; GNATHOSTOMATA (Jawed Vertebrates); PISCES; OSTEICHTHYES; Anguilliformes; Muraenoidei; CHLOPSIDAE. COMMENT: The family was formerly XENOCONGRIDAE.
