General Information

COMMON NAMES: Remora, Common Remora; German Remora-Schiffshalter; French Rémora

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE circumtropical

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; usually associated with sharks. PLUS: Off RR, one specimen on a marlin (Sims).; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: To 40cm SL. Uniformly dark brown. Sucking disc 2 times longer than wide, with 16-20 septae. Dorsal Fin with 22-25 rays. Pectorals short and rounded.
