Mangaia: recorded as Holocentrus spinifer (Clerk81). Aitutaki: field-specimen, NBSAP School, 12/2000, ID GM. Palmerston: Photo07 as Adioryx spinifer (G&S85); reported (Preston95 p51). Manihiki: 1 specimen #A781, as Holocentrus spiniferus (B&M74). Pukapuka: fieldspecimen+photo, 2/2004, G.McCormack with ID as Sargocentron spiniferum.
