General Information

COMMON NAMES: Blacktail Wrasse, Baillieu's Wrasse; French Girelle Paon à Queue Noire

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Hawai‘i - Johnston - ?n. Cooks

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore

KEY FEATURES: To 40cm SL. Elongate, depth 3.5x in SL. JUV yellow-green. IP grey-brown with dark bar on body scales. TP-MALE head uniform grey-green, body cream with dark bar on each scale forming fine bands; tailbase and tail dark; Dorsal and Anal fins uniform with pale blue edge.
