General Information

COMMON NAMES: Black-collared Ribbon-Worm

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Japan - GBReef - Cooks - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, reef-flat, benthic

KEY FEATURES: A round, very elongate white to pale cream worm, to 2mm wide and to 100+cm. There is a black to dark brown band on the snout, and a broad black collar behind the head with extends backwards as a conspicuous black mid-dorsal stripe. There is a fine black mid-ventral stripe which starts behind the head and does not join the head-band.
