General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Afirca - s.Europe - Asia - e.Polynesia

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Polynesian, Naturalised; Freshwater, wetlands - ponds -streams, to 100+m

KEY FEATURES: A long turret-shaped shell with an eroded top, to 40mm. Shell brown to olive with dark red-brown vertical stripes and flecks.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Similar to Melanoides arthurii but present species has dark vertical stripes and flecks, and adults have eroded spire.
