GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Cook Islands (Rarotonga)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of Cooks, 1-island; S.Group only (Rarotonga only - localised); Land, mid-elevation mountain valleys, 200-450m; under leaves

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Globally endangered (seriously)

KEY FEATURES: Pale brown with apex reddish-brown or purple-black.

SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
BIODIVERSITY: Globally endangered (seriously). Comment: Very limited distribution, although locally abundant in Takuva‘ine Valley in forest ~220m elevation. [pers.obs. McCormack, 2005]

Vouchers:
Rarotonga: specimen, c.1870s, A.Garrett with ID as Partula hyalina in Garrett 1881 p.396 "not uncommon on bushes in the higher portions of a few valleys" and in some valleys there was a profusion of dead shells but no living ones indicating recent extinction; fieldspecimen+photo, Takuva‘ine Valley ~500ft, 1990s, G.McCormack with ID as Partula assimilis; specimens, Takuva‘ine on Te Ko‘u Track 600-900ft on leaves to 1-3m, 9/2005, Fred Brook, with ID Partula assimilis.
