GENERAL NOTE: Cook & Kondo (1960:223) give distribution as Cooks - Tuamotu/Marquesas, & Rotuma, and conclude that it was likely spread by the early Polynesians.

Rarotonga: NOT reported 1881 Garrett, who collected on Rarotonga, Mangaia, Atiu, & Aitutaki; specimens, 1994, under a Coconut Palm and on a Muri motu, J.Craig, as Elasmias apertum; NOT found 2005/10, Fred Brook who collected on Motutapu and Oneroa, in report 2005/11. Mangaia: NOT reported 1881 Garrett, who collected on Rarotonga, Mangaia, Atiu, & Aitutaki. Atiu: NOT reported 1881 Garrett, who collected on Rarotonga, Mangaia, Atiu, & Aitutaki. Mitiaro: specimens, 1994, "only around the inland pool, and in the inland makatea", J.Craig, as Elasmias apertum. Aitutaki: NOT reported 1881 Garrett, who collected on Rarotonga, Mangaia, Atiu, & Aitutaki.
