General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Indian Ocean - Japan - ?Cooks - Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, reef-flat moat

KEY FEATURES: A small slug-like animal to 20mm. Body translucent, pale brown with small yellow flecks; white and yellow internal organs visible. Tentacles (=rhinophores) brown and club-like, ±16 lamellae, above a small horizontal-fringe (=cephalic hood) with small projections. Gills (=branchiae), small, transparent, forming a low horseshoe around the anus. Tail thin, tapering, with small dorsal papillae. Foot very narrow, turns inward when detached.
