General Information

COMMON NAMES: Sticky-leaved Seaslug

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, reef-flat, moat

KEY FEATURES: A seaslug with spectacular leaf-like lobes (=cerata) along dorsolateral margins, giving overall dimentions of 8x5cm (LxW). The cerata and body are green to brown. The cerata are very sticky and easily detached, and remain active for a few hours. The larger cerata are about 1cm diam. and have a clear stalk 5x2mm (LxDiam.). Main tentacles (=rhinophores) divide into two parts; the smaller tentacles (=labial palps) are simple projections. The foot has a wide flap along the edge and anteriorly it forms a lateral horn each side.
