GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Europe

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, ?Naturalised; Land, parasite on garden pest

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Biocontrol - released 1974

KEY FEATURES: Very small slender wasp to 4mmBL. HEAD black with large eyes, antennae 3mm. THORAX robust, black. WINGS both clear with brown triangular sector mid-anterior edge, veins brown. ABDOMEN anterior slender and arched, posterior bulbous. LEGS yellowish, with dark brown areas on hindlegs.

SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Biocontrol - released 1974. Comments: Parasitic on Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella). Origin New Zealand, liberated Rarotonga 1974-1975. Not known to be established. (Walker & Deitz 1979)

GENERAL NOTE: Host Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella [HYPONOMEUTIDAE]). Introduced to NZ from England in 1936.
