General Information

COMMON NAMES: Yellow-banded Hoverfly

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE ?, Fiji, Cooks

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land, horticultural

KEY FEATURES: Slender hoverfly to 8mmBL. HEAD face with dark median stripe; large red eyes; Male eyes meet topside; female with gap topside. THORAX black with cream sides and rear-end. WINGS transparent without blotches. ABDOMEN black with broad cream bands w/wo break mid-topside. LEGS pale brown, with some dark sections on hindlegs.
