SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Biocontrol

KEY FEATURES: Orange-red ladybird with extensive black markings, to 6mmBL. WING-COVER (each) with black dorsal margin expanding into 2 semicircles; dorsolateral irregular bars sometimes fusing to black dorsal margin or semicircles. Front dorsolateral bar has conspicuous forward-pointing centre.

SIGNIFICANCE NOTES -
POSITIVE SIGNIFICANCE: Biocontrol. Comments: Associated with the Black Citrus Aphid (Toxoptera aurantii) on Sweet Orange on Rarotonga. Observed feeding on Icerya species on Aituaki. (W&D79)

IDENTIFICATION: Glossy orange-red ladybird with extensive black markings, to 6mmBL. HEAD face orange. PRONOTUM orange-red with black posterior. WING-COVER orange-red marked black - dorsal margin black expanding into semicircles near front and rear; dorsolaterally 3 black marks that ±fuse with black dorsal margin - forward bar with forward mid-section, central S-like bar, and a rear spot.
