COMMON NAMES: Green-barred Dragonfly, Australasian Duskhawker Australasian Duskhawker

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Karakara‘avai (RR), Pīngō (TS TW)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE India - Australia - sw.Pacific to Cooks - ?

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - common; N.Group ?; Land, lowlands, young in Freshwater

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Biocontrol - natural

KEY FEATURES: Large dragonfly, wingspan 9cm, body 7cm. MALE: BODY red-brown with lime-green side-markings (2 broad diagonal bars on thorax, anterior thick-section of abdomen, and small bars on rest of abdomen). WINGS transparent and mostly a hazy yellow-brown; wingtip-rectangle orange. DEAD body uniformly dark brown. Most active a dusk.
