General Information

COMMON NAMES: Longhorned Grasshopper

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE ? - Solomons - Samoa/Tonga - ?Cooks - ?

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group only; Land

KEY FEATURES: Grasshopper to 15mmBL (excluding ovipositor) and 28mmBL (including wings). HEAD & THORAX with wide red stripe with contrasting cream edge.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Conocephalus oceanicus, Conocephalus saltator and Conocephalus modestus have nothing obvious to separate them. Only the present species is distintive with its wide red stripe with cream edge on the head and thorax (other species may sometimes have similar marks?).
