General Information

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Popolonga (PK)

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group; ?; Land

KEY FEATURES: Small slender cockroach to 14mmBL (incl. Wings). HEADSHIELD transparent pale brown with black filigree and wide dark posterior margin. WINGS transparent pale brown with very pale veins. YOUNG cream with contrasting large dark brown patches on headshield and next two segments, and dark speckles on abdomen.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Balta unicolor has headshield pale with two darker spots near centre (vs. black filigree). Blattella germanica has headshield with two wide dark stripes (vs black filigree).
