General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Rarotonga

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native, Endemic of Cooks, 1-island; S.Group only (RR only); Land, mountains

KEY FEATURES: Small chubby bug, to 5mmBL(m) & 6mmBL(f). FOREWINGS translucent with or without 2 dark, curved bands.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Separated by genitalia from similar species from Tonga, Samoa and Societies.

Rarotonga: specimens, Holotype and Paratypes, 1937 & 1938, C.E.Clarke with ID Eyles & Linnavuori as Atylana rarotongae 1974 (see special reference; specimens with dark bands, two Raemaru-Maungaroa c.400m 10/1982, specimens with no bands, one Te Rua Manga c.350m 10/1982, and one Te Kou top c.500m 1/1983, G.Paulay in BPBM, ID M.Asche in BPBM as all the same, as Atylana sp. (6/2003 GMcC) and re-ID G.McCormack as Atylana rarotongae 2007/6; one specimen, BESO475, 1999 (note GMcC 6/2003, re-ID G.McCormack as Atylana rarotongae 2007/6.
