COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; S.Group - widespread; N.Group - unknown; Land

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: ; Pest - household Nuisance

KEY FEATURES: Purple-black wasp with dark wings, orange legs and large orange jaws. Female to 17mm, male to 13mmTBL.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Orange legs are distinctive.

Mangaia: 8 specimens, Ivirua on makatea 30m elev., 2004/9, M.Kuhlmann, in 2006 paper as Anterhynchium (Epiodynerus) rufipes, 2 males had phoretic mites. Atiu: 2 specimens, 1925, G.Wilder, in BPBM ID J.Carpenter 1986 as Epiodynerus rufipes; specimens 1976 Krauss, in BPBM ID J.Carpenter as Epiodynerus rufipes.
