General Information

COMMON NAMES: Water Tiger

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Naturalised; S.Group; ?; Freshwater, ponds

KEY FEATURES: Glossy, oval, swimming insect, to 11mmBL. COLOUR brown with black spots and patches. HEAD brown with broad black bar on hindedge. THORAX uniform brown, with short black bars on front- and hind-margins.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Hydaticus planatus (of Samoa) may be similar and present.
